McDonald’s Australia (Macca’s) has announced the return of the boot-shaped Chicken McNuggets known as “Nuggies” for a limited period.

In a winter 2024/25 promotional campaign, the fast-food giant is offering 2,000 free, limited-edition pairs of Nuggies through the #BootPursuit giveaway.

To participate in the #BootPursuit competition, customers need to locate a boot-shaped Chicken McNugget, follow the QR code on the packaging, and scan the McNugget for a chance to win.

The Nuggies merge two icons: Chicken McNuggets from the classic Macca’s menu and the Australian winter boot.

They are packaged in a special Macca’s Sauce tub with a peel-back lid.

Nuggies were initially launched in 2022 as a super-limited-edition giveaway, when more than ten thousand Australians competed for fifty exclusive pairs.

The giveaway was a success, with all allocations claimed in under six hours.

The Nuggies are now making a comeback as part of Macca’s winter celebrations.

Customers can enjoy Chicken McNuggets at Macca’s restaurants across the country, available via drive-through, in-store kiosks, front counters, the MyMacca’s app and McDelivery.

The #BootPursuit campaign is open from 17 July to 6 August 2024.

McDonald’s Australia senior brand manager Liz Whitbread said: “There exists a great debate – what is the best Chicken McNugget shape – the bone, bell, ball or boot?

“Crowned as the supreme dipping icon, we’re celebrating the humble boot-shaped Chicken McNugget by bringing back one of our most sought-after merch collections – Nuggies, but this time we’re giving away even more.

“Macca’s fans, this is your chance to win your very own toasty pair of Nuggies by joining the Boot Pursuit this winter.”

McDonald’s Australia recently introduced a new and returning winter menu for a limited time.

Seasonal offerings include the Steakhouse Stack, Mozzarella Sticks with Sweet Chilli Sauce, the Banana Thickshake, Banana Caramel Pie and the Banana Caramel McFlurry, which comes with a choice of Chocolate or Vanilla Soft Serve.

With the menu launches, McDonald’s Australia aims to tap the growing profit sector in the country’s foodservice market.
