McDonald’s Japan has expanded its summer menu with the introduction of the Watermelon Frappé and Banana Macaron.

The new additions will be available for a limited period from 31 July to mid-September 2024.

The Watermelon Frappé, endorsed by Japanese actress and model Suzu Hirose and actor and singer Tomohisa Yamashita, is the latest innovation following the success of the Golden Pineapple Frappé.

The renewed version of the pineapple-flavoured beverage offers a more intense and refreshing taste, complete with whipped cream and a pineapple sauce drizzle over a smoothie base.

Complementing the beverage line-up, the Banana Macaron presents a mild and sweet banana cream.

The Frappés cost Y490 yen ($3.19) each and the Macaron is priced at Y190.

The promotional campaign for the seasonal offerings features Hirose and Yamashita in animated form.

This campaign marks the third time the two have collaborated with McDonald’s Japan for a commercial, having previously promoted the Mint Chocolate Oreo Frappe.

Some McDonald’s Japan outlets will continue to serve the minty beverage until the end of July 2024, the focus is now shifting to the new offerings, which will be available for a limited time.

In June 2024, McDonald’s Japan enhanced its dessert menu by launching a new Asian Sweets line-up: the Salt Lychee McShake, the McFlurry Annin Mango and Banana Caramel Pie.

The Salt Lychee McShake combines lychee juice with a touch of salt for an aromatic flavour.

The McFlurry Annin Mango takes its inspiration from the traditional Japanese dessert annindofu, also known as almond tofu.
