McDonald’s has made its debut in the Indian state of Sikkim, with the opening of its first-ever restaurant in Gangtok, operated by its franchise partner Connaught Plaza Restaurants, Times Of India reported citing Press Trust of India (PTI).

Sikkim becomes the second state in the North East region to host a McDonald’s outlet, following Assam.

Connaught Plaza Restaurants currently manages 190 McDonald’s locations and 75 McCafé establishments across North and Eastern India.

The new restaurant in Gangtok spans 2,240ft2 and offers seating for 116 customers, featuring a modern and stylish design.

McDonald’s India – North and East managing director Rajeev Ranjan was quoted by the news agency as saying: “We are excited to bring the McDonald’s experience to Gangtok, a vibrant and rapidly growing city in Sikkim.

“Our presence here is a step towards making the world-class McDonald’s experience accessible to the people of Gangtok and part of our expansion plans in the Northeast region.

Located within the Sundream Group’s Anthurium project in Sector 73, the McDonald’s restaurant in Noida covers an area of 9,000ft2.

The new McDonald’s outlet is designed to accommodate a range of dining preferences, providing options for both quick snacks and relaxed meals for its customers.
