McDonald’s has announced the return of the Snack Wrap to its US menus – a move that comes after the item was officially discontinued in 2016, as reported by Business Insider.  

The fast-food chain initially launched the Snack Wraps — featuring lettuce, chicken and cheese in a tortilla — in 2006. Supermodel Heidi Klum was involved in a promotional campaign two years later.  

Despite their popularity, the wraps were later removed from US menus due to preparation time concerns from franchisees, as reported by Bloomberg

The decision to bring back the Snack Wrap aligns with customer demand, evidenced by a Change.org petition with 18,000 signatures calling for its return.  

While variations of the wraps have remained on some global menus, US fans have been vocal in their desire for its comeback. 

McDonald’s US president Joe Erlinger confirmed on the “Good Morning America” TV show that the product will return in 2025, but did not give a date.

The reintroduction follows a E coli outbreak in the US in October 2024 linked to onions on McDonald’s Quarter Pounders. The health scare has impacted sales. 

In response to the outbreak and subsequent sales dip, McDonald’s is investing $100m to attract customers back into its restaurants.  

In December, the Centers for Disease Control and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) concluded their investigation into the E coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburgers, determining that there was no longer a public health threat.  

Initially reported on 22 October, the outbreak led to at least 104 individuals falling ill in 14 states.
