The University of Lincoln has introduced the DeliverSU app to allow its students pre-order food and drink using their phones.

With the new service, students can find a table in The Swan, place their orders and make payment. The order will be delivered to their table.

The Swan is a student union pub that offers locally produced food and a wide range of craft and cask ales.

DeliverSU app is powered by Mobile and online technology platform Preoday. The university is offering the ordering service to enhance the experience of its students.

University of Lincoln Students Union managing director James Brooks said: “We are always looking for ways to enhance the service offering for students, with a tech-savvy student body, it’s important that we keep pace with wider industry trends.

“We are confident that Preoday’s platform will continue to help in providing students with that anticipated level of service while enabling us to maintain a rapid, streamlined operation throughout the day.”

In addition, the university is planning to expand the service to the Tower Bar nightclub and live music venue.

Preoday CEO Nick Hucker said: “We’re proud to be able to help a great Students’ Union create a richer student experience. Long queues at the bar before can spoil the fun for students, and now that’s something they don’t need to worry about.

“The team at the SU now can utilise customer data, gathered via the app, to forecast sales trends and develop personalised marketing campaigns.”

In January this year, UK-based chain Magu Diner partnered with Preoday to introduce an online and mobile ordering service.
