By GlobalDataIt also allows them to digitally track their hydration, and meets the demand for more sustainable packaging options by offering beverages without single-use plastic bottles.
The hydration platform features three components including a hydration dispenser, a companion smartphone app, and a personalised QR code sticker for reusable bottles.
Customers can customise by selecting various options such as zero-calorie flavour, carbonation, and temperature by using the companion mobile app. They can also save their customised drinks options for future use.
In addition, the platform tracks the environmental impact by recording the count of plastic bottles saved with each pour.
Beyond the Bottle Ventures and SodaStream EVP Jim Andrew said: “This new hydration platform is an exciting step in the PepsiCo Beyond the Bottle innovation pipeline.
This platform is a great example of how we are evolving our portfolio to provide more sustainable options for consumers to get personalised, great-tasting beverages.”
PepsiCo Foodservice chief marketing officer Scott Finlow said: “This new platform addresses a number of trends we’re seeing resonate with consumers, including increasing concern for the environment and preference for refillable bottles, as well as desire for choice and personalisation whenever possible.
“Now, whether they’re at home, work, or on-the-go, we’ve given people a way to make more sustainable choices throughout their day and achieve their personal hydration goals.”
The company will introduce the platform at select workplaces, universities, and hospitality partners this year with plans to expand the platform to additional locations in the future.
