Restaurant and Hollywood memorabilia brand Planet Hollywood New York has reopened in New York City, unveiling a modernised restaurant and entertainment space following a transformative $20m investment.

The venue, located at 136 W 42nd Street, now features a 360-degree canopy of high-definition screens and 692 video tiles.

The restaurant, which closed during the Covid-19 pandemic, employs 8K resolution video surfaces on each floor, creating thematic worlds for diners.

From “old Hollywood glamour” to “futuristic landscapes”, the restaurant claims to enhance every meal.

Planet Hollywood and Earl Enterprises founder and CEO Robert Earl said: “We’re relaunching Planet Hollywood in Times Square not just as a restaurant but as an all-encompassing sensory experience that magnificently combines innovative technology with the unique flair of Hollywood.”

“This venue is poised to deliver exceptional entertainment and dining in the spirit of New York’s celebrated theatrical grandeur.”

The ceiling has a “canopy of glowing stars” along with “shimmering walls”, signifying the next phase in Planet Hollywood’s development.

In this latest iteration, the brand’s traditional memorabilia has been replaced by an “all-encompassing” audio-visual experience with synchronised video projections, soundscapes and interactive elements.

The third floor claims to offer an even more “immersive” experience with “dynamic” video screens embedded into the ceiling.

The menu features a selection of appetisers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, pasta and entrées.

Dishes include Kobe Cheesesteak Empanadas and Spicy Rigatoni Vodka.

The “1993 Icons” section of the menu pays tribute to original items such as the World-Famous Chicken Crunch and LA Lasagna.

Planet Hollywood New York is open from 11am, serving until midnight from Sunday to Thursday and until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
