US-based on-demand food delivery service Postmates has expanded its presence in the US by launching delivery services in 134 new cities.

The expansion, which increases its network to 550 cities in the US, follows after the company raised $300m in additional venture capital funding led by Tiger Global Management.

Postmates co-founder and CEO Bastian Lehmann said: “We’ve seen amazing growth this year and bringing Postmates to even more people in the US is a huge step in being able to deliver anything to anyone, anywhere.

“Our mission is to support local communities through local people delivering goods from local merchants.”

“Unlike other on-demand services, [we] see the cities we operate in as our warehouses by making every merchant and restaurant accessible through the app.

“Our mission is to support local communities through local people delivering goods from local merchants. In 2017, [our] fleet earned over $200m in the US and merchants on the Postmates platform generally see four times the growth in sales.”

Customers can now place orders from any restaurant or merchant located across the 134 new cities through Postmates’s website, as well as on the company’s app.

The online delivery firm is also offering $4 off a customer’s first Chipotle order across the new cities to mark the launch.

Established in 2011, the company offers on-demand delivery services from various restaurants and stores.
