Celebrity chef and restaurateur Richard Blais made has opened La Zozzona restaurant at the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort in the US state of Arizona.
The restaurant draws inspiration from Italy’s diverse culinary landscape, featuring housemade pastas and wood-fired steaks.
La Zozzona, which translates to “messy delicious” in Italian, is the first Arizona venture for the James Beard Award-nominated cookbook author and TV personality.
Blais’ menu acknowledges his travels through Italy, from the trattorias of Rome to the rustic grills of Tuscany.
Known for his creative approach, Blais trained under culinary greats such as Thomas Keller at The French Laundry, Daniel Boulud at Daniel and Ferran Adrià at El Bulli.
His culinary consulting group, Trail Blais, has been instrumental in launching restaurants across the US including Ember & Rye in Carlsbad and the Four Flamingos in Orlando.

He has authored three cookbooks and is now bringing his expertise to La Zozzona, as well as overseeing the food and beverage concepts at Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort.
La Zozzona’s menu features Cicchetti (small snacks or side dishes) such as Stuffed Clams with Pancetta and Artichoke, and a Burrata (milk cheese) section with options such as Millionaire Style with lobster and caviar.
In-house-made pasta and imported dried pasta from Italy is used for dishes such as the Rigatoni Alla Zozzona and Lobster Raviolo.
The Cuts and Catches section pays tribute to Italian steak and seafood traditions, with offerings such as Pancetta-Wrapped Filet of Beef and Bistecca Fiorentina for sharing. Side dishes and desserts include the Tableside Tiramisu.
Cocktails at La Zozzona incorporate Italian ingredients and include the Basilic Grand and the Vodka Zozzona Martini.
The wine list spotlights Italian and global selections, with Coravin Rare Wines available by the glass. The restaurant also offers negronis, local beers and non-alcoholic options.
Designed by Wimberly Interiors, La Zozzona’s ambiance combines modern design with Italian-inspired elements and antique touches such as the Cicchetti cart. The lounge area, open kitchen and wine-tasting room enhance the dining experience, and private dining is available.
Open from 5pm to 10pm daily, La Zozzona accepts reservations via OpenTable and offers private dining during regular business hours.
