By GlobalData“Our new Egg & Cheese kolaches have tested off the charts with consumers. We soft-launched the new products in June at select stores, and sales have been more than 10 times our expectations.
“We’re already working on what we can do with our kolaches next as new consumers discover them.”
Shipley has been selling kolaches for more than 25 years, and the pastries have become a cornerstone of its menu, now accounting for 34% of the company’s sales.
The kolaches are handmade and baked fresh daily and feature a light yeast dough filled with a choice of sausage, ham, cheese and jalapeno.
The kolache was brought to Texas by Czech settlers in the mid-to-late 1800s.
Originally a sweet, fruit-filled pastry, the Texas kolache has evolved to include savoury options.
In October 2024, Shipley Do-Nuts signed a development agreement to further expand its presence in North Carolina.
