American drive-in fast-food chain SONIC is set to enhance its menu with the introduction of Loaded Queso Fries from 2 September 2024.
The new menu item will be accessible to SONIC app users immediately upon release.
The Loaded Queso Fries are offered in Bacon Ranch and Southwest varieties, both served on the chain’s signature Groovy Fries.
Bacon Ranch is topped with white queso, bacon, shredded cheese and ranch sauce. The Southwest version features queso, jalapenos, tomatoes, Southwest sauce, onions and cheese.
The offerings will be available for a limited period across SONIC locations nationwide.
The starting price for a medium portion is $3.99, though this may vary by location.

SONIC culinary and menu innovation vice-president Mackenzie Gibson said: “SONIC’s hot and crispy Groovy Fries are a perfect snack on their own but imagine elevating them with creamy queso and other flavour-packed toppings – now that’s a snack that hits the spot.
“Whether you go for Bacon Ranch or Southwest, these loaded fries will get you through those midday or late-night cravings and transform them into an experience that’s both comforting and delicious.”
In August 2024 SONIC Drive-In added a new cheeseburger, the Sonic Smasher, as a permanent item to its menu.
The Sonic Smasher features two grilled Angus patties, American cheese, Smasher sauce, crinkle-cut pickles and chopped onions in a potato bun.
SONIC is also launching the SONIC Triple Smasher, starting at $7.49.
The company has also announced the opening of a co-located restaurant outlet in New Jersey.
