Global food and drink travel operator SSP Group has secured an eight-year contract to open and operate ten restaurants at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport in Spain.
The contract is valued at €17m annually and will see the opening of local and international brands, including Starbucks, SOHO Coffee, Burger King, O’Learys Bar & Restaurant and Enrique Tomás.
As part of the contract, SSP Group has opened two Burger King locations in the south and north piers of the airport and a Starbucks location near the boarding gates.
SSP Spain director general Blanca Ripoll said: “We are delighted to have secured these units in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Airport. This new contract win reaffirms SSP’s position as a leading restaurant operator in the travel market in the Canary Islands with a presence in Tenerife, Lanzarote and Las Palmas.
“The hospitality industry is currently very buoyant in Spain. Branded restaurant chains are, in particular, strong generators of wealth and employment in the country.”
The company will open Enrique Tomás and O’Learys Bar & Restaurant in the food court area of the airport.

The Enrique Tomás location in the airport will offer a wide range of Jamón Ibérico de Bellota laong with meats from four different origins such as Salamanca, Huelva, Cáceres-Badajoz and Córdoba.
SSP Group operates catering and retail units in over 125 airports and 270 railway stations globally.
