US-based fast-food brand Starbird has signed franchise development agreements to open new outlets in Salt Lake City and Chicago.

The agreements, led by restaurant operators, will see the opening of ten new locations — five in each market — starting in late 2025 and early 2026.

Commenting on the expansion into Salt Lake City and Chicago, Starbird stated: “These markets were chosen for their thriving food scenes, growing demand for modern, chef-driven dining options, and the franchisees’ deep community ties.”

Founded in 2016, Starbird has been expanding its franchise network with a focus on premium chicken offerings, attracting multi-unit operators drawn to its strong financial performance and innovative menu.

The brand has an average unit volume of $4.1m and differentiates itself with fresh, never-frozen, antibiotic-free chicken, prepared with a gluten-free breading and cooked in rice bran oil.

Its menu includes a variety of salads, wraps, bowls, wings and breakfast items.

Starbird’s is seeking franchise partners in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Nevada, Oregon, Texas and Washington to further its expansion plans in these markets.

Starbird founder and CEO Aaron Noveshen stated: “These latest franchise agreements represent another milestone moment in Starbird’s strategic expansion.

“As we continue expanding into new markets, we’re looking forward to collaborating with operators who share our passion for unmatched food and operational excellence. Their experience and dedication will be instrumental in successfully bringing Starbird to these regions.”

In December 2024, Starbird announced a new franchise agreement with Mehta Investment Group to expand its presence into Washington State.
