American restaurant chain Surcheros Fresh Mex has announced its entry to Tennessee with a new franchise agreement.

The deal, signed with Tennessee-based WilCo Fresh Mex, will see the introduction of seven new Surcheros units in the Nashville area in the company’s largest development deal to date.

Franchise partner WilCo Fresh Mex is set to open the first Tennessee location in October 2024.

The move is part of Surcheros’ strategic expansion plan to open 100 restaurants up to 2029, broadening its footprint in the southeastern US, including new markets such as South Carolina.

Surcheros founder and CEO Luke Christian said: “We have always had ambitious plans to expand in Tennessee, and securing this as our largest agreement demonstrates the remarkable growth of our franchise system and the exceptional hospitality we provide in local communities.

Known for its Tex-Mex cuisine, Surcheros allows guests to customise their meals, including burritos, tacos, quesadillas and salads, with a variety of grilled meats, toppings and signature sauces, all prepared fresh to order.

Surcheros, which currently operates 30 restaurants primarily in Georgia and Florida, has been expanding since its inception in 2007.

The brand also caters to younger customers with a dedicated kids’ menu.

Surcheros business development and franchise relations vice-president Jake Philpotts said: “Development has been very exciting for Surcheros, and this is only the beginning.

“Our first Tennessee restaurant will be in Tanger Outlets, providing excellent exposure to a diverse range of new customers. This deal signals the strength of our brand in a new state and ensures a promising and long-lasting relationship with our new partners.”

In May 2024 Surcheros Fresh Mex opened a new location in Cartersville, Georgia.

Located at 104 S Tennessee St, this unit is the brand’s first establishment in Cartersville and its 28th in the state of Georgia.
