American restaurant chain TGI Friday’s has launched a voice-activated Amazon Alexa skill that enables customers to make reservations, order takeaways and pay their bills using just their voice.
Exclusive to the US, the feature rolled out across participating restaurants last week (29 November), and will continue to across the country throughout 2018.
Hoping to “bring ease and convenience to the ordering experience,” the new feature allows customers to place and pay for their order through Amazon Pay on their Alexa-enabled devices, using the payment information already in their Amazon account.
Chief marketing officer Stephanie Perdue said: “The launch of online ordering (in the US) and our commitment to digital innovation has resulted in significant growth in our to-go business, with more than 70% of those orders coming from new Fridays customers.
“As we continue to innovate, we’re focused on creating digital programs with industry leaders like Amazon that make the Fridays experience more convenient for guests to recreate at home.”
What’s more, the skill also shows the full menu and exclusive online offers, as well as recommending three side dishes for every main course based on food pairings by Fridays’s executive chefs.
