Fast-casual restaurant Velvet Taco has launched five new tortilla-free Velvet Bowls, marking the company’s new menu innovation since its inception in 2011.

Comprising five options, the new Velvet Bowls aims to cater to diners seeking fresh, protein-packed meals.

The bowls are available with rotisserie chicken, steak, spicy tikka chicken, slow-roasted beef brisket or blackened shrimp. The menu also includes a vegetarian option with seasonal roasted vegetables.

All of them contain buttered cilantro basmati rice.

Velvet Taco culinary director Venecia Willis said: “From the Spicy Tikka Chicken Bowl to the Mexi-Cali Shrimp Bowl, each creation stays true to our bold ethos and showcases our dedication to scratch-made quality in a new bowl format.

“Every component is crafted in-house with fresh ingredients and presented vibrantly to deliver an elevated, flavourful bowl experience that guests can’t find anywhere else.”

Velvet Taco marketing vice-president Brooke Perry said: “Our new bowls meet the evolving needs of today’s more health-conscious diner, while celebrating what it means to be bold, unique and unapologetically loud — just like our brand.”

For additional customisation, Velvet Taco provides options to lighten the dish by substituting rice with napa slaw or to increase protein content with an additional serving for a small upcharge.

The bowls feature ingredients such as queso and guacamole without any extra charge.
