US-based convenience store Wawa has announced the launch of Wawa Pizza as part of its ongoing expansion of the dinner menu.

Available in sizes of 14in and 16in, the new item is now available across 900 Wawa stores in the Mid-Atlantic and Florida.

The company claims that all its Wawa Pizza is prepared using freshly made dough, proprietary pizza sauce and whole milk mozzarella.

The pizza will be available in various varieties, including plain, pepperoni, sausage, mushroom and vegetarian.

Customers can place their order through the Wawa app or through Wawa’s touchscreens in-store.

Wawa Pizza will be available from 4pm to 3am in stores, which are open round the clock.

The majority of the stores will be offering full-size pizzas, but few will be offering a special, personal-size pizza.

Wawa fresh food and beverages vice-president Mary-Rose Hannum said: “We are absolutely thrilled to launch Wawa Pizza and give our customers another delicious dinner meal option to pair with our expansive selection of other fresh-to-order foods, snacks, drinks and more.

“Pizza is one of the most beloved foods in America, so we couldn’t be more excited to make it a part of Wawa’s fast-casual-to-go offering and create a restaurant-like experience with our high-quality ingredients, great value and the convenience we’re known for. It’s officially a pizza night at Wawa.”

In May this year, Wawa announced the expansion of its corporate food solution business through the ezCater online marketplace.

The new partnership with ezCater allows Wawa to offer its individually packaged or plated breakfast sandwiches, coffees and lunch items to business clients and workplaces.
