Wayback Burgers Asia (WB Burgers Asia), the Japanese master franchisee of Wayback Burgers, has launched Next Restaurant, Tokyo’s first multi-brand plant-based restaurant, and announced plans for domestic and international expansion.

The new restaurant concept is primarily focused on pick-up and delivery services, with minimal in-house dining.

It is designed to be a one-stop destination for a variety of plant-based dishes, some of which are also gluten-free.

The restaurant shares a single on-site kitchen to prepare a selection of menus from different brands.

Next Restaurant features vegan bento boxes including Next Short Rib Bento, Next Foie Gras Kalbi Bent and Next Beef Bowl Bento.

It offers plant-based versions of classic dishes such as rice hamburgers and minced meat cutlets.

For those with gluten sensitivities, Next Pasta & Doria offers gluten-free options such as Next Bolognase, Next Tomato Sauce and Next Carbonara. The restaurant also serves Next Pizza and Next Vegan Cheesesteak.

Complementing the food offerings, the company has introduced Niseko & Smoothie, a health-focused smoothie brand that uses fresh produce from Niseko farms in Hokkaido, Japan.

Wayback Burgers Asia CEO Koichi Ishizuka stated: “The traditional restaurants are now facing high procurement costs, labour shortage, general inflation and consumers’ continuous demands for high quality and healthy foods while seeking for a better value for the money.

“Next Restaurant’s multi-brands restaurant model shares the same kitchen for better food preparation efficiency and the pick-up and delivery concept allows us to operate within a small location.”

Alongside the launch of Next Restaurant, Wayback Burgers Asia has announced plans for both domestic and international expansion, signalling a strategic move to cater to the growing global demand for plant-based dining options.
