Fast-food chain Wendy’s has announced plans to open 50 restaurants in the UK next year.
Best known for its square burgers, Wendy’s announced in May 2021 its re-entry in the UK market after two decades.

By GlobalDataIt opened a restaurant in Reading in June, followed by openings in Stratford, Oxford, Croydon, and Romford.
Wendy’s also opened five delivery kitchens for ten restaurants.
The company is currently seeking new franchise partners as it aims to open 50 restaurants next year.
Wendy’s International president and chief development officer Abigail Pringle said: “We set a goal to enter the UK this year with five company-owned and operated restaurants, and we’ve delivered.
“We’ve also welcomed our first franchisee, REEF, that has opened five delivery kitchens to date. We have seen incredible success that outperformed our expectations, and it’s clear to us that customers are loving our fresh, high-quality food. Now, it’s time to hit the accelerator to bring more Wendy’s to more British customers across the country.”
The company is holding discussions with franchise partners to expand its presence in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland.
Outside Greater London, Wendy’s intends to open new restaurants in Brighton and the Midlands.
It plans to offer its products through various channels such as restaurants, drive-thrus and delivery kitchens.
Wendy’s senior vice-president and UK and Canada managing director Paul Hilder said: “We’re in the final stages of discussions with two traditional franchise partners who will help the brand across the Midlands and the North of England, and we have a very strong pipeline of franchise candidates beyond that.”
