Admiral Taverns has invested £692,000 ($876,000) in the refurbishment of two community pubs in Hull, UK.

The Parkers, managed by Paul Harker, underwent a £268,000 renovation, while the New Griffin, led by David Smith, received a £424,000 upgrade.

Both are part of Proper Pubs, which is the community operator division of Admiral Taverns.

The capital expenditure investment is aimed at supporting the pubs’ long-term sustainability.

The Parkers’ renovation includes new flooring, furniture and fixtures, a redesigned bar and a garden area with new bar facilities, seating and lighting.

It is scheduled to re-open on 21 December 2023 with a prosecco reception and Christmas festive activities.

Paul Harker said: “The pub already looks fantastic, and I can’t believe the transformation so far. I’m really excited to get back behind the bar, meet all our customers old and new and support the local community.

“We’ll be starting off by collecting food for a local food bank, and donations to get a defibrillator installed. Pubs are the hub of their community, and we can’t wait to be the hub of Hull.”

The New Griffin re-opened on 15 December 2023, with a new stage for live entertainment and an open-plan main room with updated flooring, seating and a bar.

Both pubs offer cocktails, wine and promotions on fizz.

It also provides access to a full range of sports channels and broadcasts horse racing, along with weekend entertainment such as karaoke and DJ nights.

Proper Pubs, with more than 200 pubs across the UK, supports local communities through events and charity initiatives.

In November 2023, Admiral Taverns re-opened The Spinners pub in Leigh following a £250,000 renovation.
