Viennese bakery-café chain Aïda has marked its expansion into Slovakia with the opening of a new outlet in Bratislava, World Coffee Portal has reported.
Located at Nivy Mall in Bratislava, Aïda's new 320ft2 store is the result of a master franchise agreement signed with the Slovakian hospitality group Dahleh Cafe in September 2024.
The partnership aims to establish at least five Aïda stores in Slovakia by 2027.
Aïda owner and executive director Dominik Prousek was quoted by World Coffee Portal as saying: “Together we want to make Aïda in Bratislava a permanent fixture – a place where guests can experience an authentic piece of Viennese history.
“Our goal is to open several branches in Slovakia in the next few years and to spread Viennese coffee house culture further into the world.”
Aïda, a 110-year-old operator, currently runs 27 stores in Austria.
The move signifies the brand's third foray into the international market, following the brand’s launch in German and Saudi Arabian markets.
The brand made its first international appearance in Germany in May 2024 and subsequently inaugurated a 24/7 store at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in November 2024.
In Germany, Aïda partnered with Allresto Flughafen München Hotel und Gaststätten to open a store at Munich Airport.
For its store at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Aïda collaborated with global travel concession operator SSP Group. The 3,200ft2 location at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is designed to accommodate 150 customers and offer a take-away menu.
