Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii has announced an expansion in Honolulu, with a three-unit signed agreement set to bring the brand's Hawaiian heritage to a wider audience.
The partnership has been made with Hawaiian natives Galu and Diane Tagovailoa, parents of US National Football League quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and experienced multi-unit franchisee Ted Davenport.
The first of the new locations will open in spring 2025 at 3502-c Waialae Ave, Honolulu, HI 96816, marking a new chapter in the brand's 36-year history.
Davenport stated: "Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is more than a brand – it's a celebration of the culture, flavours and spirit of Hawaii. Having lived in Hawaii for most of my life, I'm thrilled to bring this iconic brand home alongside Galu and Diane Tagovailoa. Together, we're committed to delivering an authentic Hawaiian coffee experience that pays homage to the islands."
Bad Ass Coffee’s menu features premium coffee sourced from the Kona region of the Big Island, as well as Kauai and Maui, blended drinks, signature lattes, cold brews, teas and innovative food items with a Hawaiian twist, along with branded merchandise.
Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii CEO Scott Snyder added: "This partnership represents a meaningful return to our roots. As we expand in Hawaii, we're not just opening stores; we're sharing the Aloha Spirit and creating spaces where the community can gather, connect, and celebrate the essence of Hawaii. Galu, Diane and Ted are ideal partners to help us carry forward this mission with integrity and passion."
The Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii brand and franchise is owned by the Royal Aloha Franchise Company.
In early April 2025, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii appointed Iain Douglas as its new chief brand officer to accelerate the brand's expansion and enhance the success of its franchisees.
