American fast-casual restaurant chain Baja Fresh Mexican Grill has expanded its menu with two new Golden State Burritos.

The offerings are available in steak and chicken options.

The steak variant of the Golden State Burritos is filled with fire-grilled steak, Baja papas featuring diced peppers and onions, a blend of queso, melted jack and cheddar cheese, sour cream, jalapenos and guacamole in a warm flour tortilla.

The chicken option is filled with fire-grilled chicken, Baja rice, melted jack and cheddar cheese, chipotle aioli, pico de Gallo and guacamole, also served in a warm flour tortilla.

Baja Fresh also announced the return of the Smokey BBQ Chicken Burrito or Bowl dish.

The new options are available at participating Baja Fresh locations across the US and will remain on the menu until 21 October 2024.

Baja Fresh Restaurant Operations vice-president Logan Reves said: “At Baja Fresh, we are committed to creating dishes that honour tradition while still being innovative.

“The new Golden State Burritos are a perfect example of blending authentic flavours with our unique Baja Fresh twist.”

In April 2024, Baja Fresh expanded its menu with the addition of Vampiro Tacos for a limited period.

Vampiro Tacos are soft corn tortillas filled with fire-grilled steak, pinto beans, pickled red onions, pico de gallo, spicy salsa and guacamole.

The tacos are grilled with a crispy layer of mozzarella cheese and served with Baja rice, a choice of black or pinto beans, and a lime wedge. Customers can also order a taco individually.
