The decision was prompted by the sluggish growth of demand.

Food delivery services provider Barbora Polska has decided to cease operations in Poland, citing low demand.

The company, which operates in Polish cities including Tricity, Warsaw, Katowice and Lodz, will continue to offer services until 3 March 2024.

RADAS, UAB, which controls Barbora Polska, has indicated that the decision was prompted by sluggish growth of demand.

RADAS, UAB director Viktoras Juozapaitis said: “In response to the sharply increased demand for home food delivery during the pandemic period, Barbora Polska was established.

“However, after the end of the pandemic, the growth of demand for these services slowed significantly. The market growth pace in recent years did not meet our expectations, therefore at this stage the decision was made to discontinue Barbora's operations in Poland and focus on activities in the Baltic states.

“Barbora Polska aims for the smooth completion of all operations. All dismissed employees will be settled in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, receiving their due compensations. All taxes owed will be paid to the state.”

Barbora will continue its food delivery services in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

It has been delivering food in Lithuania since 2014, and in Latvia and Estonia since 2018.

RADAS is a subsidiary of MAXIMA GRUPĖ, a prominent retail operator with a portfolio that includes Maxima in the Baltic states, T-Market in Bulgaria and Stokrotka in Poland.

Stokrotka, which also provides food delivery services, will maintain its operations within the country.
