Electric vehicle (EV) charging company Blink Charging has installed EV chargers at five McDonald’s restaurant locations in Puerto Rico.
The five restaurants now feature Level 2 (L2) Blink IQ200 electric vehicle chargers, which allow customers to charge their EVs while they dine in.
These McDonald’s restaurants are located at Montehiedra, Las Cumbres, Mayaguez Terrace, Ponce by Pass and Fajardo.
Blink said that the installation of the chargers was marked with a launch event that provided free charging for EV drivers at select locations.
The charging stations have been installed by McDonald’s franchisee Arcos Dorados as part of the initial phase of the agreement, which was signed between Arcos and Blink in late August 2023.
Blink’s IQ200 chargers are Level 2 (L2) AC chargers designed to deliver up to 80 amps of output and can provide approximately 65 miles of charge in one hour.
The IQ200 chargers also support payment options such as RFID, Apple Pay, Google Wallet and major credit cards.
Since entering the Latin American market (LATAM) in 2020, Blink has sold or deployed chargers across eight countries.
Blink Charging LATAM business development manager Patricia Baires said: “We are excited to see how Arcos Dorados has taken immediate action to meet their customers' needs and promote environmental conservation for a cleaner future.
“The incorporation of Blink stations at the select restaurants in Puerto Rico demonstrates the aligned commitment to EV adoption and infrastructure development that both companies undoubtedly share.”
Arcos Dorados holds exclusive rights to own, operate and grant franchises of McDonald’s restaurants in 20 Latin American and Caribbean countries and territories.
