Burger King Japan has introduced the 'KYOTO Whopper', a limited-time offering available from today (1 November).

This burger is the result of a collaboration with Hachidaime Gihey, a rice vendor from Kyoto.

It features a flame-grilled 100% beef patty paired with a special rice patty.

The rice component combines white rice and Kin no Ibuki brown rice, harvested in 2024 specifically for this creation.

Fresh vegetables such as lettuce, tomato, and onion complement the meat and rice duo while a distinctive Japanese-style ginger sauce adds depth to the flavour profile.

The special sauce that tops the KYOTO Whopper is a blend of dashi soy sauce enriched with the umami of four types of dashi - bonito, mackerel shavings, shiitake mushrooms, and kelp.

It is further enhanced by four traditional Japanese spices: pepper, roasted chilli pepper, ginger, and dried citrus peel.

This combination of ingredients is designed to offer an authentic taste experience to customers that honours Japanese culinary traditions.

Burger King's commitment to innovation and local cuisine is evident in this new offering.

The KYOTO Whopper is not only a nod to Japanese gastronomy but also showcases the brand's dedication to creating new flavour experiences for its customers.

By incorporating high-quality rice from Hachidaime Gihey into the burger, Burger King Japan provides a new way for patrons to enjoy both meat and rice in a single dish.

The Burger King system operates over 19,000 locations in more than 100 countries. Independent franchisees own and operate nearly 100% of the restaurants.
