US-based restaurant chain BurgerFi International has expanded its menu with the addition of chicken wings, BurgerFi salad bowls and a seasonal shake.

Beginning on 1 November 2023, the restaurant will be serving three flavours of chicken wings and four types of BurgerFi bowls across all its participating restaurant locations as permanent menu additions.

BurgerFi International CEO Carl Bachmann stated: “Our chef-crafted and sensationally indulgent menu strategy makes our new chicken wings the perfect side to accompany our 100% all-natural Angus beef burgers. America loves burgers, wings and beer. And now you can get them all at BurgerFi.”

The jumbo chicken wings will be available in seasoned original, Memphis sweet BBQ and Frank's red hot buffalo flavours, and will be served with a choice of blue cheese or ranch dressing.

It will also offer a seasonal white chocolate peppermint shake for a limited time only.

The white chocolate peppermint shake features vanilla frozen custard, which is mixed with white chocolate and peppermint and topped with whipped cream and crushed peppermint pieces.

BurgerFi bowls combine fresh ingredients and will feature a base comprising crispy lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, jalapeños and haystack onions.

BurgerFi International chief marketing officer Cindy Syracuse stated: “Guests are looking for options. Not only have we added an additional chicken offering, but we are continuing to expand our menu options.

“In addition to our lettuce buns, BurgerFi bowls are a strategic extension to provide options for the "veto vote" or guests who may want more variety.”

Customer engagement drives metaverse investment in the foodservice sector

COVID-19 and supply chain disruptions following the Ukraine war have accelerated automation and digitalization in the foodservice sector. Home delivery services and consumer engagement through digital channels have become essential for businesses trying to stay afloat. Foodservice companies must also cope with ESG issues, the fast-changing world of work, and the global economy heading for recession and possible stagflation. The metaverse, enabled by both AR and VR, is an important tool that can help address many of the foodservice industry's key challenges.
