US-based restaurant chain BurgerFi is planning to open a new restaurant in New York in late December this year.

The restaurant chain also plans to introduce a new dining experience known as the Better Burger Lab.

BurgerFi said the lab will offer exclusive and limited-edition menu items that "guests can’t find anywhere else."

Located on the Upper East Side at 1571 Second Avenue, the new restaurant will serve never-frozen American Angus Beef burgers, draft beers, freshly cut sides and frozen custard desserts.

The restaurant will also host special events and serve alcoholic drinks.

BurgerFi International CEO Carl Bachmann said: "As a born and raised New Yorker, reopening our Manhattan location is a personal passion point for me.

"In the city that never sleeps, we will have a late-night menu to make sure we are meeting the needs of our guests. Innovating around food quality and taste is a key win for BurgerFi and we're no stranger to it.

“We value our guests and want to give them the power to help decide what's on our menu. The Burger Lab will create a unique experience that remains true to delivering BurgerFi's great service and great products."

Bachmann plans to expand BurgerFi by extending into new markets and unconventional places.

BurgerFi said it plans to invite the BurgerFi Rewards Programme members, known as V-Fi-Ps, to an exclusive food-tasting event.

Lionheart Capital founder and CEO and BurgerFi International executive chairman Ophir Sternberg said: "This is an exciting new chapter for the brand.

"This is the 90-day mark for the leadership brought by CEO Carl Bachmann, who has made tremendous progress."

The restaurant chain had 172 locations under both these brands as of 3 April 2023.

Quick commerce steadily becoming the norm for most food and grocery delivery companies

The emergence of ecommerce has made it imperative that companies understand consumer behavior, deliver personalized service, and offer competitive pricing models. Per GlobalData estimates, food and drink, clothing and footwear, and accommodation were the top three sectors by global ecommerce transactions in 2022. The rise of quick commerce, particularly within food and drink, allows consumers to have items delivered to their doorstep within the hour, which has driven a surge in online sales for food and drink.
