California Burrito is aiming to triple its store count in India to 300 locations by 2030 and strengthen its sustainable sourcing initiatives.
The restaurant chain is set to open its 100th store on 15 February 2025. The new outlet will be located in the city of Bengaluru in Karnataka.
To celebrate the occasion, the brand will launch a special one-day menu across all its Indian outlets for dine-in customers.
Since its inception in 2012, California Burrito claims to have revolutionised the quick-service restaurant sector in India with its farm-fresh ingredients, new flavours and customisable menu.
Originating from a single outlet in Bengaluru, the brand has now achieved a pan-Indian presence with locations in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru.
California Burrito co-founder Bert Mueller said: “The 100th store opening is a significant milestone, not just for California Burrito but also for the growing acceptance of Mexican food in India. With hundreds of stores successfully operating across north and south India, the brand has played a key role in establishing Mexican food as a mainstream category.
“This milestone reflects the love and trust our customers have shown us over the years. We also recognise that this is just the beginning of our journey. India is vast and there are many more cities to serve. We continue to work on our projects to innovate and improve our food, bringing customers real, authentic Mexican flavours. While some of these projects will take years to achieve, we remain committed to making progress every day."
The launch of the 100th store aligns with California Burrito's growth strategy to triple its Indian store count to 300 by 2030, with future expansions in the cities of Mumbai and Pune.
The company is also enhancing its sustainable sourcing practices to ensure continuous access to premium quality Hass avocados, tomatillos and other fresh produce.
California Burrito is renowned for serving Mexican-inspired fast-casual dishes such as burritos, tacos, bowls, salads and nachos in India.
