Chartwells Independent has been awarded two new three-year contracts by South Hampstead High School and Wimbledon High School in London, UK, Public Sector Catering has reported.
Chartwells, a subsidiary of Compass Group UK, claims that its expertise in sustainability and nutritional education to pupils has played a significant role in securing these partnerships.
The aim of the new contracts is to enhance the schools’ catering and hospitality services.
Chartwells Independent stated that it will provide tailored food offerings, designed specifically for the needs of children at each school.
Wimbledon High School financial operations director Kathryn Jones said: “Over the past decade, Wimbledon High School has invested in its campus to enhance the educational experience for our pupils. The dining experience is crucial, and we're thrilled to announce our partnership with Chartwells Independent.
“Their team aligns seamlessly with our vision with a strong commitment to high-quality, sustainable food. We look forward to a continued partnership, fostering a positive dining environment and engaging our pupils in nutritional education for many years to come.”
Chartwells will also implement its "Beyond The Chartwells Kitchen" workshops at both these institutions.

Chartwells Independent has also successfully retained several existing contracts.
St Faith’s School and The Leys School, both located in Cambridge, as well as Chigwell School in Essex, have confirmed contract extensions.
Chartwells Independent is working with St Faith’s and The Leys to revamp their dining halls and catering facilities.
In January 2024 Compass Group, the parent company of Chartwells, entered into an agreement to acquire CH&CO, a food services provider in the UK and Ireland, for an undisclosed amount.
CH&CO offers catering services for workplaces, events and educational institutions.
