Chipotle Mexican Grill has rolled out new ready-to-drink beverages for summer across its US restaurants.
Available for dine-in, takeout and delivery, Chipotle's latest offerings include poppi - a popular soda known for its real fruit and prebiotic ingredients; Open Water - ultra-purified, electrolyte-packed canned water in bisphenol A-free aluminum packaging, and Coke Zero.
Poppi is available in two flavours: Strawberry Lemon and Orange. Each can contains five grams of sugar and 25 calories or fewer.
Chipotle's culinary team has curated pairings for the new poppi offerings.
The poppi Strawberry Lemon complements a chicken salad with roasted chili-corn salsa, fajita veggies and chipotle-honey vinaigrette.
The poppi Orange is suggested alongside a steak Quesadilla with adobo seasoning, served with guacamole, cilantro-lime white rice and tomato salsa.
In a significant sustainability initiative, Chipotle has joined forces with Open Water to eliminate plastic water bottles from its locations.
Open Water's 16oz aluminum bottled water is recyclable, climate-neutral certified, and reusable. A portion of the product's sales goes towards regenerative agricultural projects.
As Open Water's largest restaurant partner, Chipotle is bringing the environmentally conscious option to nearly 3,500 restaurants.
Chipotle Mexican Grill brand marketing vice-president Stephanie Perdue said: “The perfect drink pairing can truly enhance the flavour of your go-to Chipotle meal.
“We’ve refreshed our ready-to-drink beverage assortment to complement our existing line-up and appeal to our guests’ love of unique flavours and sustainable, healthy mindsets.”
Four years ago, the company introduced a range of "beverages with integrity", including non-GMO [genetically modified], all-natural and certified organic Aguas Frescas and Lemonades from Tractor Beverage. Chipotle allocates 5% of profits from these beverages to initiatives supporting farmers.
