ChowNow, a California, US-based platform that facilitates online ordering and delivery for local restaurants, has appointed Kanika Soni as its new CEO.
With more than 20 years in the consumer tech sector, Soni's expertise is expected to drive growth and innovation for the company.
Her career began at McKinsey & Company as a management consultant. Her journey includes leadership roles at renowned consumer brands such as TripAdvisor, Disney, Tesla and Gilt Groupe.
As Tripadvisor's chief commercial officer, Soni played a pivotal role in reviving the company's core business post-pandemic losses.
Her input set the foundation for a transformation focused on product innovation and data-driven strategies.
ChowNow founder and chairman of the board Chris Webb stated: “We are thrilled to welcome Kanika to lead the ChowNow family.
“Her vision and expertise will be invaluable as we continue our growth. She is passionate about supporting local restaurants and is committed to fostering a culture of innovation and partnership at ChowNow.”
During her tenure as general manager/senior vice-president of Global E-commerce at the Walt Disney Company, Soni spearheaded efforts to modernise Disney’s direct-to-consumer business.
She achieved double-digit growth through operational enhancements, expansion into third-party channels and the launch of a unique shopping experience that amalgamated Disney merchandise offerings.
In March 2024, ChowNow acquired Cuboh, a company specialising in streamlining online orders for the restaurant industry.
Cuboh’s platform consolidates orders from food delivery services into one interface, improving operational efficiency with reduced errors.
