Domino’s taps Google Maps for Pinpoint Delivery

Pinpoint Delivery facilitates deliveries at places such as parks, beaches and baseball fields.

June 19 2023

Pizza chain Domino’s is set to strengthen its delivery operations by using Google Maps technology to deliver pizzas to places that have no addresses.

The Insider reported that the new ordering feature, known as Pinpoint Delivery, facilitates delivery at places like parks, beaches and baseball fields.

It allows customers to find their location by dropping a pin in the pizza chain’s app. Customers can then receive their pizzas deliveries while walking through a park or basking in the sun on the beach.

However, the drop-off place must be within the reach of a Domino’s store’s delivery zone.

Pinpoint Delivery leverages the latitude and longitude coordinates of the client’s location taken by the Domino’s app.

It then identifies the best pickup spot for delivery depending on the drivers’ convenience to stop their vehicles.

Customers get four minutes to meet and collect their orders from the driver.

Pinpoint Delivery is different from Domino’s Hotspots tech, which was launched in April 2018.

While Hotspots delivers pizzas to outdoor areas such as stadiums, it still requires an address to complete the delivery.

Domino’s Pizza recently reported a net income of $104.8m for Q1 2023, a jump of 15% compared to $90.96m a year ago.
