Drive-through coffee chain Dutch Bros Coffee has opened its 1,000th US store, located in Orlando, Florida.

Established in 1992, Dutch Bros operates in 18 states, with a strong presence in Oregon, California and Texas.

Dutch Bros is the fourth branded coffee chain to reach 1,000 stores in the country, joining Starbucks, Dunkin' and Panera Bread, which have 17,000, 9,600 and 2,200 locations respectively.

World Coffee Portal reports that both Starbucks and Dunkin' have been investing heavily in drive-through facilities, indicating the segment's potential for growth.

In the long term, Dutch Bros aims to operate 4,000 stores.

In January 2025 it became the latest US coffee chain to drop the non-dairy surcharge, following Starbucks and Gregory’s Coffee.

The decision by major US coffee chains to eliminate extra charges for dairy alternatives reflects a rising trend towards equal pricing for beverages in the speciality coffee sector.

In January 2025, Dutch Bros Coffee introduced two new cereal-inspired drinks, the Cinnamon Swirl and Marshmallow Dream, now available at 950 locations.

The Cinnamon Swirl offers cinnamon sugar cereal milk, while the Marshmallow Dream offers a marshmallow cereal milk flavour. Both are topped off with Dutch Bros' signature Soft Top.
