ezCater, a food technology platform designed for workplaces, has introduced the Smart Ordering feature in the US.

Smart Ordering leverages AI and machine learning to streamline the food ordering process for offices.

Drawing on more than 17 years of exclusive data from ezCater, it enables customers to decide what and how much to order for large workplace gatherings.

With Smart Ordering, users receive menu suggestions across varying price ranges.

The recommendations can be adjusted to fit different group sizes and individual tastes, speeding up and simplifying the ordering process.

When Smart Ordering is activated on a restaurant's menu, the order suggestions will be highlighted at the top under the label “All-in-One Orders.”

The company highlighted several key advantages of Smart Ordering: recommendations based on data analysis, time-saving features, easier budget management and precise food quantity estimations.

Smart Ordering is the newest addition to ezCater’s all-encompassing food tech platform, offering flexible and scalable solutions for everything from regular employee meals to individual meetings.

The feature is currently accessible at more than 50,000 restaurants on ezCater, with additional locations set to be added in 2024 and 2025.

ezCater chief technology officer Erin DeCesare said: “Smart Ordering is the first of many ways we’re using AI and machine learning to reinvent how you order food for the workplace.

“With this new feature, our customers can confidently make choices that will save time and manage their budgets more effectively, all while ensuring their teams are well-fed and happy.”

In June 2024, Bojangles teamed up with ezCater to introduce its official catering programme in the US.

By leveraging ezCater's technology, Bojangles’ customers could place their catering orders online, choosing items from the menu and arranging for delivery or pickup.
