US-based daytime dining restaurant First Watch Restaurant Group (First Watch) has acquired five of its previously franchise-owned restaurants and corresponding development rights in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

First Watch president and CEO Chris Tomasso said: “As we continue to execute on our long-term growth strategy, we’re excited to announce the acquisition of these five restaurants in the Milwaukee area.

“These previously franchise-owned restaurants perform similarly to our company-owned units and we look forward to their continued operational excellence and prosperity as we serve our communities in greater Milwaukee for years to come.”

First Watch said it funded the deal with the available cash on hand.

Known for serving made-to-order breakfast, brunch and lunch, First Watch serves a wide array of menu items from pancakes, omelettes, sandwiches and salads to speciality items such as the Quinoa Power Bowl, Avocado Toast and the Chickichanga.

First Watch currently operates more than 494 restaurants across 29 US states.

The restaurant concept is majority owned by private-equity firm Advent International.

Last month, the restaurant group acquired six of its previously franchise-owned restaurants in Omaha, Nebraska.

At that time, Tomasso said: “We’re thrilled to share the news of our acquisition of these six First Watch restaurants in greater Omaha.

“We believe this acquisition - and the acquisition of additional franchise-owned restaurants in the future - will be an important part of our growth strategy going forward.”
