GEN Restaurant Group has expanded its presence with the opening of a new GEN Korean BBQ location in San Antonio in the US state of Texas.

This is the third opening of GEN Korean BBQ in 2025, following Edison in New Jersey and Orlando, Florida

GEN Korean BBQ’s "grill at your table" dining concept is described as a modern approach to traditional Korean BBQ, providing an immersive experience for guests to enjoy meats, poultry, seafood and mixed vegetables.

GEN chairman and CEO David Kim stated: “Opening a sixth Texas location in a new market was a natural choice for GEN given the strong performance of our existing Texas locations and desire to continue building momentum across the state.

“We are proud to have started the year on a strong note with three successful openings in January and look forward to continuing our expansion plans throughout 2025.”

The GEN Korean BBQ venue in San Antonio is situated in the Huebner Oaks Shopping Center.

Its menu includes Premium Ribeye, Carne Asada, Garlic Samgyubsal, Cajun Chicken and Honey Chicken.

It is open daily from 11am to 11pm.

In June 2024, GEN Korean BBQ introduced its premium menu at all its locations.

In January 2025, GEN Restaurant Group announced changes to its leadership structure.

Its co-founder Jae Chang stepped down from his role as co-CEO on 8 January. He continues to serve on the company’s board.

GEN’s chairman and co-CEO David Kim continues as chairman and has become CEO.

Founded in 2011 in Los Angeles, the brand has expanded to 40 company-owned venues.
