Gino's East of Chicago, a US-based restaurant chain known for its deep-dish pizza, has unveiled a new pizza variant named the "Crackerjack" in Los Angeles.

The limited-edition pizza is launched in celebration of National Pizza Month, October 2024.

The Crackerjack is a combination of deep dish or tavern-style thin crust pizza, topped with hot pepper jack and mozzarella cheese, spicy pepperoni, candied bacon and Calabrian chili oil.

The creation of Crackerjack is attributed to Gino's East co-owner Tod Himmel.

Himmel said: “I love making pizzas that combine unique and unexpected flavours. In this case, I wanted to pair a little bit of heat and a little bit of sweet.

“Just as the spicy from the pepper jack, pepperoni and chili hit your taste buds, the sweet crunch of the bacon brings you back.”

This speciality pizza will be available throughout October, as Gino's East commemorates National Pizza Month. The festivities also include a series of month-long specials.

Gino's East opened in Los Angeles in December 2019 at 12924 Riverside Drive in Sherman Oaks.

The venue was equipped with 12 screens broadcasting games, particularly featuring Chicago and Los Angeles teams.

The venue also offers a full menu that includes favourites such as Italian Beef, 12 beers on tap and a variety of canned beverage options.

In September 2024, American convenience store and pizza chain Casey’s launched the Jalapeño Popper Pizza, in anticipation of the 2024/25 football season.

The new offering combines Philadelphia whipped cream cheese, a blend of cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, smoky bacon and mild pickled jalapeños, finished with Mike’s Hot Honey.
