US-based fast food restaurant chain Hardee's has expanded its menu offerings with the addition of its new Nashville Hot Chicken.

The Nashville Hot Chicken will join Hardee's hand-breaded chicken platform, which includes Hardee's favourites such as Nashville Hot Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwich, Nashville Hot Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders and Nashville Hot Hand-Breaded Chicken Biscuit.

Hardee's brand marketing director Mallory Jones said: “At Hardee's, we're all about offering the homestyle foods our guests crave. We're expanding our famous chicken lineup with just the right amount of spice.

“The flavours speak for themselves. While there's a nod to our Tennessee headquarters, we know guests across the country will love this new flavour.”

Starting 13 September, the new menu addition will be offered to guests in-store and online through the Hardee's App.

The new menu item will be rolled out across all of Hardee's participating locations and will be a permanent addition to Hardee's menu.

Hardee's, which is owned by CKE Restaurants Holdings, operates more than 1,600 franchised and company-operated restaurants across 31 US states.

In May this year, CKE Restaurants expanded the deployment of automated ordering at its drive-through locations across the US.

As part of this initiative, the restaurant company extended its partnership with Presto Automation to deploy its voice-based artificial intelligence (AI)-powered solution, Presto Voice.

The rollout of the voice automation technology has already been tested at certain drive-through locations of Carl’s Jr and Hardee’s in the US.

Customer engagement drives metaverse investment in the foodservice sector

COVID-19 and supply chain disruptions following the Ukraine war have accelerated automation and digitalization in the foodservice sector. Home delivery services and consumer engagement through digital channels have become essential for businesses trying to stay afloat. Foodservice companies must also cope with ESG issues, the fast-changing world of work, and the global economy heading for recession and possible stagflation. The metaverse, enabled by both AR and VR, is an important tool that can help address many of the foodservice industry's key challenges.
