American fast-casual restaurant brand Hawaiian Bros has signed three new multi-unit development agreements to open new locations.

The agreements were signed with JCK Ohana, Sequoyah Hospitality and Rock Hawaiian to open new restaurants in Portland, Tennessee and Las Vegas.

JCK Ohana, led by Joe, Alex and Lauren Karcher, has committed to opening five new Hawaiian Bros locations in Portland.

Established by Joe and Cathleen Karcher in 1989, it has been active in Oregon's dining landscape for more than three decades.

It owns 60 Carl's Jr restaurants and other franchise brands such as Human Bean, Jersey Mike's and Dave's Hot Chicken.

Sequoyah Hospitality, under the leadership of Jim Richards, Andrew Gardner and Brion Voges, has secured the rights to develop 18 locations across key markets in Tennessee, including Nashville, Chattanooga and Knoxville.

Under the deal with Rock Hawaiian, led by Edith Diaz, the brand is set to expand into North Las Vegas with plans to open five restaurants.

This follows the acquisition of their previous rights to develop 18 locations in the San Antonio market, which began with the purchase of the Live Oak Texas restaurant.

Since 2007, Rock Hawaiian has been operating quick-service restaurants in the franchise space and currently operates 74 stores in Texas, Nevada and Utah.

JCK Ohana, Sequoyah Hospitality and Rock Hawaiian all have extensive experience in the restaurant industry and will facilitate the further expansion and growth of the brand in the country.

Hawaiian Bros franchise development vice-president Grant Kreutzer said: “In our ongoing westward expansion, Hawaiian Bros' entry into Las Vegas promises to radiate positivity and the distinctive Hawaiian Bros vibes.

“The brand finds a welcoming new market in Las Vegas, with a well-suited franchisee possessing a strong foundation of multi-unit franchise experience already operating other restaurant concepts in the area.

“This move marks an exciting step for Hawaiian Bros as they bring their unique offerings to the dynamic Las Vegas market.”

In March 2024, Hawaiian Bros expanded its presence in the state of Arizona with the debut of its first two island-inspired franchise bricks-and-mortar locations in Tucson and Glendale.
