US-based casual dining restaurant chain Huddle House has signed a multi-unit development agreement to expand its presence in Arkansas.

The agreement was signed between Ascent Hospitality Management, the owner of the Huddle House brand, and Perkins Restaurant & Bakery.

Under the agreement, three new locations will be opened in Arkansas, with openings planned for next year.

Huddle House Brand president and COO Troy Tracy said: “We are excited to announce Huddle House's expansion in Arkansas.

“Our new franchise owners, Sarah and Jason Everett, are deeply rooted in their community and we can’t wait to be a part of their journey as they bring Huddle House to Arkansas.”

Over the last two years, the two parties signed 70 franchise agreements, expanding the company's portfolio to nearly 600 locations, which are open or in the development pipeline across the US and Canada.

Huddle House multi-unit franchise owner Jason Everett said: “We're excited to provide a place where the community can come together after games and enjoy quality time with their loved ones.

“I personally love heading to the diner after a sports game and I know Arkansas’ spirit revolves around family and sports.”

Last month, the company signed a franchise agreement with multi-unit owner Ryan J Peters to open three new restaurant locations in Florida.

Peter’s first franchise location is scheduled to open by the end of this year in a shopping centre located in Live Oak. The second outlet is scheduled to open 18 months later, followed by a third location in the future.

Customer engagement drives metaverse investment in the foodservice sector

COVID-19 and supply chain disruptions following the Ukraine war have accelerated automation and digitalization in the foodservice sector. Home delivery services and consumer engagement through digital channels have become essential for businesses trying to stay afloat. Foodservice companies must also cope with ESG issues, the fast-changing world of work, and the global economy heading for recession and possible stagflation. The metaverse, enabled by both AR and VR, is an important tool that can help address many of the foodservice industry's key challenges.
