IKEA has ventured into the UK high-street dining scene with the opening of its first stand-alone restaurant.
The new establishment is located adjacent to the revamped IKEA Hammersmith City Store.
It has taken over a space previously occupied by a Wasabi-branded restaurant and can accommodate 75 guests.
The restaurant features a menu of Swedish culinary classics, designed to enhance the shopping experience with a convenient dining option.
The menu features a variety of dishes, including IKEA's meatballs and plant balls, children's pasta and tomato sauce, fish and chips, and a breakfast selection, with prices ranging from £2.75 ($3.56) for a small, cooked breakfast to £5.50 for meatballs with traditional sides.
To commemorate the opening, IKEA Hammersmith is extending a special offer to IKEA Family Members. They can enjoy a £5 discount in-store when they spend £5 or more at the IKEA Hammersmith Restaurant on the same day, valid until 30 November 2024.
The company has invested in creating flexible customer solutions, including the launch of more than 100 mobile pick-up points in partnership with Tesco, and plans to unveil two new City Stores in Oxford Street and Brighton.
IKEA London City market manager Matthew Gould said: “We know how much our customers love the IKEA restaurant and we’re excited to celebrate the opening of our very first high-street restaurant.
“Fans of our delicious dishes can recharge during their shopping trip with our famous Swedish meatballs, pop in for a traditional Swedish ‘fika’ break for coffee and a sweet treat, or find an affordable meal for the kids right on the high street.”
