New York-based speciality coffee roaster Joe Coffee has partnered with Chilean food tech company NotCo to replace its almond milk with NotCo's NotMilk Barista plant-based milk.
NotCo said the move marks its first coffee house partnership for NotMilk Barista in the US.
The ultra-creamy NotMilk Barista is being used at Joe Coffee’s locations across New York City in place of almond milk on the menus.
NotCo said that the new plant-based milk is made with a blend of chickpeas and oats. It provides a low-sugar option and a creamier and frothier plant-based alternative for customers to elevate their Joe Coffee pick-me-up.
The foamable, ultra-smooth NotMilk Barista is said to perform well in hot and cold foaming. It also has a firm hold on latte art.
NotCo CEO and founder Matias Muchnick said: “NotMilk Barista allows plant-based coffee lovers the opportunity to enjoy the full, frothy latte experience without compromising on taste, look, feel and functionality.
“Joining hands with Joe Coffee as our initial outlet allows us to give consumers the most elevated, plant-based coffee experience – one that not only tastes better but is better for the planet.”
NotCo is looking to expand its Alt-Protein business by partnering with Dunkin Doughnuts, Burger King, Starbucks and Papa Johns. It has also partnered with Danny Meyer’s New York-based Café Daily Provisions.
Recently, Shake Shack teamed up with NotCo to launch its non-dairy chocolate shake and non-dairy frozen chocolate custard made with NotMilk in the US.
The food tech company also lends its AI platform Giuseppe through its B2B Unit to help other CPG brands curate their innovations.
