Quick serve restaurant (QSR) chain KFC has opened its newest location, KFC Aura, on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, according to a report by the Sunshine Coast News.

Owned and operated by Collins Foods, KFC Aura celebrated a soft opening on 11 August. The grand opening is planned for this weekend.

This outlet at 4 Symonds Way, Baringa, will be led by restaurant manager Tyrone Lebeter. It will be open every day between 10am and 10pm.

The news publication quoted Lebeter as saying: “For locals who want to get their hands on the Colonel’s delicious Kentucky Fried Chicken from the comfort of their home, delivery will be available from late August.”

The new location is expected to create more than 60 new jobs in the region.

Lebeter added: "We’re passionate about building a strong and confident team to ensure we provide both the best customer service possible and quality Kentucky Fried Chicken to the people of Aura.

“Our culture fosters the growth and development of our people by providing opportunities that help them gain lifelong skills, confidence and friends. We’re looking forward to watching our new team members reach their potential.”

Employees can take up registered traineeships and participate in several initiatives. They can also enrol in the KFC-specific Diploma of Leadership and Management curriculum as they progress in their careers.

Recently, KFC opened its flagship store in Tel Aviv, Israel, marking its 17th location in the country.

Customer engagement drives metaverse investment in the foodservice sector

COVID-19 and supply chain disruptions following the Ukraine war have accelerated automation and digitalization in the foodservice sector. Home delivery services and consumer engagement through digital channels have become essential for businesses trying to stay afloat. Foodservice companies must also cope with ESG issues, the fast-changing world of work, and the global economy heading for recession and possible stagflation. The metaverse, enabled by both AR and VR, is an important tool that can help address many of the foodservice industry's key challenges.
