American fast-food restaurant chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) has announced two new menu items and a new bucket design for the 2023 holiday season.

The new menu items are the New Mac & Cheese Wrap and the Colonel's Homestyle Brownie, which will be launched on 12 November 2023.

The New Mac & Cheese Wrap will be joining KFC’s wraps line-up, while a family-size fudgy brownie can be added to any bucket meal or to the $20 Fill Up Box.

The $20 Fill Up Box is the popular new offering from the restaurant brand in 2023, and will come in a special holiday box featuring the "Secret Recipe of Joy" design.

The $20 Fill Up Box comes with 12 KFC nuggets, four pieces of chicken on the bone, secret recipe fries, four biscuits and four dipping sauces.

Since the 1960s, the restaurant brand has been creating a holiday-themed bucket to celebrate the festive season.

In 2023, most of KFC's convenient bucket meals will be offered in a special holiday bucket for a limited time.

The rollout also includes a matching holiday merchandise collection.

Kentucky Fried Chicken US chief marketing officer Nick Chavez stated: “Whether you need the mashed potatoes and gravy for Friendsgiving, a meal to share with family or a unique holiday sweater for your friend's annual party, KFC is serving joy this holiday season.

“And we have something for everyone at a range of price points – from a variety of holiday gift ideas to our two for $5 wraps and $5 brownie add-on.”

Customer engagement drives metaverse investment in the foodservice sector

COVID-19 and supply chain disruptions following the Ukraine war have accelerated automation and digitalization in the foodservice sector. Home delivery services and consumer engagement through digital channels have become essential for businesses trying to stay afloat. Foodservice companies must also cope with ESG issues, the fast-changing world of work, and the global economy heading for recession and possible stagflation. The metaverse, enabled by both AR and VR, is an important tool that can help address many of the foodservice industry's key challenges.
