Fast-food giant KFC is moving its corporate headquarters in the US from Louisville, Kentucky to Plano, Texas.
The move, announced by parent company Yum! Brands, will see KFC US corporate office workers joining the Plano office, which is currently staffed by the KFC and Pizza Hut global teams.
This will impact around 100 corporate workers, who will move over between March and September 2025. 90 remote employees are also set to relocate by August 2026.
Yum! Brands will support its staff during the transition period.
Yum! Brands has decided to have two headquarters for its key brands, with KFC and Pizza Hut based in Plano and Taco Bell and Habit Burger & Grill based in Irvine, California.
The strategic shift is designed to enhance teamwork within the company's portfolio.
However, Yum! Brands and the KFC Foundation will continue to maintain a corporate presence in Louisville.
Yum! Brands CEO David Gibbs stated: “These changes position us for sustainable growth and will help us better serve our customers, employees, franchisees and shareholders.
“Ultimately, bringing more of our people together on a consistent basis will maximize our unrivalled culture and talent as a competitive advantage. I’m confident this is another important step in growing our iconic restaurant brands globally.”
To honour its longstanding connection with Kentucky, Yum! Brands is reinforcing its mission to local higher education by endowing $1m to the College of Business at the University of Louisville.
KFC plans to maintain its brand presence in the city by constructing a flagship restaurant.
In February 2025, Yum! Brands revealed Byte by Yum!, a collection of software-as-a-service AI-driven products.
Byte by Yum! integrates online and mobile ordering, point of sale, kitchen and delivery management, menu control, inventory and labour management, and team member resources into a unified system.
Yum! Brands and its subsidiaries franchise or run 61,000 restaurants in 155 countries and territories under its four brands.
