Krispy Kreme and former American professional basketball player Shaquille O’Neal are set to open a new outlet on the site of the brand’s historic Ponce de Leon location in Atlanta, the US.
Covering an area of 4,000ft², the new store will be opened on 10 October 2023.
The original store on the site was destroyed by an arson in 2021.
Krispy Kreme Global chief brand officer Dave Skena said: “We made a promise to the Ponce community and all of Atlanta and we’re delivering on it.
“Everyone has been so supportive during our bounce-back process and we’re thrilled to turn on the Hot Light. Our longstanding presence in Ponce is core to the community.
“Beginning 10 October, delicious, fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts and all the happiness that comes with enjoying and sharing them will be back.”
The new outlet will have a workforce of more than 70 people.
The outlet will serve the brand’s classic menu, including hot Original Glazed doughnuts fresh off the line and limited-edition offerings.
The doughnut and coffeehouse chain noted that guests can order doughnuts in-shop, via the drive-through, or ordering doughnuts through the Krispy Kreme app for pick-up or delivery.
Last month, Krispy Kreme appointed Josh Charlesworth as its new president and CEO.
Charlesworth was promoted and will assume the new role on 1 January 2024, succeeding Michael Tattersfield, who has held the role since 2017.
