Krispy Kreme Canada has announced plans to open its first location in Winnipeg, Manitoba in late spring 2024.
The new Hot Light Theatre Shop will be situated at 465 Sterling Lyon Parkway in the Tuxedo Park Shopping Centre.
The 4,600ft² Winnipeg outlet will introduce a new design which is expected to be a model for present and future Krispy Kreme Canada shops.
Customers can view the entire doughnut-making process in the Doughnut Theatre and enjoy the products fresh off the line.
Krispy Kreme Canada chief growth officer Levi Hetrick said: “We are thrilled to bring the magic of our fresh, hot, light and airy doughnuts to our friends in Winnipeg.
“The Hot Light Theatre Shop will certainly be a hit, giving a front-row seat to the most awesome doughnut experience imaginable.”
Krispy Kreme's growth is not limited to Canada. In February 2024, the brand revealed plans to enter the Brazilian market through a joint venture with AmPm Comestíveis.
The partnership aims to distribute fresh doughnuts in Brazil via Krispy Kreme shops and AmPm convenience stores, with the launch expected between late 2024 and early 2025.
In November 2023, the restaurant chain was in talks with McDonald’s in the US to expand its collaboration. CNBC reported that discussions were underway to build on the partnership that began in October 2022.
McDonald’s initially tested three Krispy Kreme doughnut varieties at nine locations in Louisville, Kentucky, indicating potential for a broader partnership.
