Australia-based coffee and Greek doughnut concept Lukumades has entered the US market with an outlet in Jacksonville Beach City, Florida.
Founded by Exarhos Sourligas in 2015, Lukumades started as a food truck business in Melbourne, Australia.
Since then, it has expanded quickly, opening nine stores in Australia and 13 international locations, including in the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan, Singapore and now the US.
The chain's menu features loukoumades, bite-sized deep-fried dough balls known for their crunchy exterior and fluffy interior.
The doughnuts come in flavours such as honey, cinnamon, caramel, matcha and golden maple syrup.
These are served with espresso-based beverages, iced drinks, milkshakes and ice cream.
Lukumades CEO and founder Exarhos Sourligas said: “Our journey to the US marks an exciting new chapter for Lukumades. We are proud to introduce our irresistible vegan-friendly Greek doughnuts, homemade gelato and freshly ground coffees to Americans.
“The US market’s vibrant culture and diverse culinary scene presents an incredible opportunity to share our delicious little doughnut balls with a completely new audience.”
To facilitate its US expansion, Lukumades has partnered with Jacksonville-based St John agency, selecting it as its US agency of record. St John has almost 40 years of experience in the food and beverage sector.
St John executive vice-president Jenifer Boyd Harmon said: “Consumers are craving Lukumades’ fresh, modern take on a traditional concept, and we’re thrilled to be a part of its US expansion.
“With our track record of growing franchises like Zaxby’s and our extensive branding legacy, we’re confident Lukumades will quickly become a beloved addition to the American doughnut scene.”
