US-based pizza restaurant chain Marco’s Pizza is set to open its 1200th store at 3831 Ruckriegel Parkway in Louisville, Kentucky.

The opening event and ribbon-cutting ceremony are scheduled for 19 January 2024.

The new addition to the Marco's Pizza network is operated by the chain's largest franchisee, Hoogland Restaurant Group, under the leadership of president McLain Hoogland.

Hoogland said: “With Marco's, there's a clear vision for growth and now is the opportune time to invest and expand.

“As we enter this period of high growth, we will continue to lean on the support of a strong leadership team, prioritise innovation to drive results and spotlight our superior quality that continues to rival the competition.

“This is a special moment for the Hoogland team as our third store was actually Marco's 300th milestone location. Fast forward, opening the 1200th store is an achievement that truly honours our company's test of time and incredible growth with Marco's.”

The Hoogland Restaurant Group, established in 2012, has a substantial presence in the Marco's Pizza franchise network, managing a portfolio of 117 units.

Hoogland Restaurant Group initially expanded by growing its family video business and opening Marco's Pizza locations alongside.

The company has shifted its focus solely to pizza consumers and is strategically selecting prime territories for further expansion.

The group plans to increase its count by 20 stores in 2024.

Marco's Pizza is growing, with more than 100 stores currently in development and more than 170 agreements signed.

The company’s leadership has identified 4,200 potential locations across the country.

Marco's Pizza chief development officer Gerardo Flores stated: “This opening holds great significance for our brand as multi-unit growth guides our 2024 development strategy with nearly half of the current franchise network comprised of multi-unit operators.

“McLain and his team have been a tremendous franchise partner who continue to double down on their investment and expand across the country; it's clear they see great strength and promise with Marco's.”

In November 2023, Marco’s Pizza opened a new location in Magnolia, Florida.

Located opposite the Magnolia Publix supermarket at 2196 Everglades Lane, Marco’s Pizza’s new venue is owned by local entrepreneur Pete Hiles.

Hiles owns eight other Marco’s stores in the greater Orlando area.
